After 8 years as a pro tennis player, were he played tournaments all around the world, he decided to end his singles carrer to focus on tennis coaching. He is now a coach in the Elite Tennis Center, created by Jean Rene Lisnard (ex 80 ATP). However, he is still an international doubles player ranked 177 on the ATP tour (Association of Tennis Professional). He also represents Monaco in the Davis cup each year.
Personals anecdotes from Romain :
- For my two first week as coach, I did a tennis program for a 14 years old Ukrainian really talented who was training in my academy at Cannes. At the end of these two weeks she flew to Australia to play the Grand Slam Junior. It was such a big surprise for everyone when she finally won the tournament at such a young age.
- In April 2017, the Monegasque federation gave me a Wild Card to play the Rolex Master 1000 of Monte Carlo in doubles. With my doubles partner we have beaten the number 3, number 7 and number 15 doubles team in the world. One of them being the murray’s brothers. We finally lost in the semi final, but it was the best result of all time for a monegasque.
I’m able to coach any type of guest, I can give my point of view on the technical skills for beginners with an adaptable teaching method. I can also teach high level players, thanks to my experience as a pro tennis player.
Romain says : ” The first quality of the coach is to be lively”
